Material selection for photo art – what should you choose?

Choosing the right material for photo art is almost as important as the subject itself. The material not only affects how the image looks, but also the feel, durability and how the artwork harmonizes with the space it hangs in. At Fotofryd, we offer several different material choices, so you can find the solution that best suits your style, needs and surroundings.

When considering material choices, it is important to think about the interior, lighting conditions and the look you want. Some materials give a modern and austere feel, while others create warmth and a more classic look.

Aluminum plate (alu plate) gives a stylish and modern expression. The image is mounted directly on the plate without a frame or glass, which gives a minimalist result without reflections. This choice of material is particularly suitable for modern homes and offices with lots of light. Aluminum plates are robust and easy to maintain, but can be perceived as cooler in expression than more traditional solutions.

Foam board is a lightweight and affordable material choice that adds depth and volume without being heavy. It is well suited to rooms where ease of installation is important, but is less robust against moisture and impact compared to aluminum and glass.

Canvas on a blind frame gives a warm, textured and almost painterly look. This choice of material is well suited to warm, classic interiors and calm nature motifs. The disadvantage is somewhat lower detail sharpness and greater sensitivity to moisture over time.

Fine Art Giclée on Silk Hahnemühle 310 g is an exclusive material choice for those who want maximum quality. The paper provides deep colors, high detail reproduction and an elegant expression, but usually requires framing for optimal protection.

Wall art with frames and glass gives a timeless and finished look. For rooms with lots of light, frame solutions with art glass are recommended, which reduce reflections and highlight the motif.

Finally, Fotofryd also offers sound-absorbing acoustic images, a functional material choice that combines photo art with better room acoustics – ideal for open spaces and office environments.

With the right choice of material, you get a wall mural that not only looks good, but also works perfectly in the room over time.
